Celebrating The Potential in Every Girl

Celebrating The Potential in Every Girl

March 3rd is Girls’ Day, or hinamatsuri in Japan, a traditional holiday that celebrates girlhood and the potential in every girl. This special day resonates with me as Tatcha’s Beautiful Faces, Beautiful Futures initiative recently reached its second anniversary.

“Thanks to you, together we have funded over 1,500 years of education for girls around the world”

To commemorate our journey so far, my friends at Room to Read shared with me some more details on how our partnership has helped keep girls’ dreams in reach.

Providing a girl in the developing world with one extra year of education beyond the average boosts her future wages by 20%. As a friend of Tatcha, you have helped fund over 1,500 years of education for girls around the world. This has made an incredible difference for every girl who is a student in Room to Read’s Program, empowering her to make change in her community. Research shows an educated woman reinvests her knowledge and income back into her family and the community she lives in.

When I visited a school supported by Room to Read a year and a half ago, I was humbled by the hard work and high spirits of the girls and women I met. Girlhood is truly a special time, when learning is essential to a future of opportunity. As a mother, it means the world to me to see my daughter, Alea, grow and delight in learning, and to see firsthand the difference education makes. Knowing that every full-size skincare purchase funds a day of education for a girl and helps her reach her potential, grounds my journey as Tatcha grows.

Every one of us at Tatcha is touched to see the impact that even a day of education can make in a girl’s life. To see those days add up to years is a thrill, and made my heart swell. Beauty truly does begin from the heart and the mind. From all of us, thank you for being a part of this beautiful journey so far—together, we’re making world change possible. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
