Starry eyed. Puppy dog eyes. Bright eyed. There are countless ways to describe eyes, and it’s because they can communicate innumerable things — they’re not called “the window to the soul” for nothing. Tatcha believes that skin is a reflection of the soul, and the intrinsic connection between the eyes and the innermost self adds even more value to caring for this area of the face. So when our client friends ask us: “Why do I really need an eye cream?”, the answer marries science and spirit.
Why do I need an eye cream?
For many of us, our eyes experience continual movement as we appreciate the beauty of the world around us. Whether we’re looking up at a rainbow or down at shells in the sand, the skin around our eyes is engaged in near-constant activity, day in and day out. But for such a hardworking part of the body, the eyes are often neglected during the essential steps of a skincare ritual.
The Tatcha Institute scientists in Japan have worked tirelessly to expand our line of formulas designed especially for the delicate skin around the eyes. So, why is an eye cream necessary? This area of skin is thinner than the rest of the face, highly sensitive, and lacks the ability to self-moisturize; these factors combined leave the eye area extremely susceptible to dryness, fatigue, and wrinkles. Often, the eyes show the first signs of aging. But by pampering the eyes with a formula expressly intended to treat this unique area of skin, these signs of aging can be delayed and treated.
Introducing The Silk Peony
The newest of Tatcha’s eye care formulas is one of our most exciting developments, The Silk Peony, which boasts a unique balm texture that instantly melts into the skin around eyes to create a double shield of hydration. Liquid silk forms a protective veil of moisture atop skin, while Japanese white peony helps boost skin’s natural barrier function to seal in moisture.
The Silk Peony’s formula utilizes extract of the beautiful hanabira, or petal, of the white peony to transform skin. This time-tested ingredient enables skin to retain moisture for reduced dryness and sensitivity, helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area. Essentially, these extraordinary petals — harvested only in the Niigata prefecture in Japan — help reveal petal-smooth skin in the area of the face that needs it most.
Your eyes tell your story, and we’re so honored to play a part in that important narrative. Thank you for allowing us to care for your skin.
