It was thought that cherry trees held the spirit of gods, and their blooms signaled a fruitful harvest to come. Farmers picnicked under the trees celebrating their future prosperity, a practice called yoshuku.
予祝 Yoshuku: pre-celebration or to celebrate in advance. The belief that if you celebrate your dreams before they happen, they’re more likely to come true.
