New body collection
Forest Awakening

CLINICALLY PROVEN TO EASE STRESS, LIFT MOOD + CARE FOR SKIN

hinoki-branches

Why It Works

The Forest Awakening body collection is rooted in shinrin-yoku, the ritual of forest bathing, which is scientifically proven to decrease stress, lift mood, and increase concentration simply by immersing the five senses in nature. Studies show that 50% of these benefits come from simply smelling forest air.

SCIENCE BACKED
In his research, our Consulting Physician, Dr. Qing Li, the leading expert in forest bathing, has proven that inhaling hinoki wood essential oils or applying them to the skin can reduce stress levels and increase natural killer cells (immune cells that fight bacteria, viruses, and tumors).

Support for Forest Preservation

Our research into the science of forest bathing has taught us that nature is essential to our well-being, but we also know that our forests are deeply impacted by climate change, from drought to wildfires.

With the launch of our Forest Awakening body collection, which honors the healing power of trees, we’ve partnered with American Forests, an organization that creates and supports healthy, resilient forests. Beginning in our own backyard, Tatcha is supporting American Forests’ replanting and maintenance of the King Fire burn scar in El Dorado County, CA, where 97,000 acres burned in 2014.

Utilizing climate-smart planting and maintenance strategies, this project will help to protect water supplies for downstream communities, including Sacramento and the Bay Area, while ensuring that generations can enjoy shinrin-yoku and all that nature has to offer — in this area, and beyond.
